Dennis Dauble

After a 35-year career as a fisheries scientist, Dennis Dauble has decided to follow his two passions of writing and fishing on a daily basis. In addition to time spent fishing on the Columbia River and other Pacific Northwest waters, he writes about the natural history and behavior of important sport fish from Oregon and Washington.  A large body of this knowledge has been published in: Alaskan SportsmanGame and Fish MagazineNorthwest Fly Fishing, Washington Trails and Northwest Sportsman. He has also written three books about fish and fishing.

Fishes of the Columbia - Dennis DaubleFISHES OF THE COLUMBIA BASIN

I wrote this award-winning reference guide because I thought everyone needed to have an affordable book about fish of the Columbia River. While not a fishing guide per se, it contains useful facts about the life history and behavior of the most common species for anglers. Introductory chapters describe the regional landscape; history of commercial, sport, and tribal fishing; and, early accounts of native fishes as gleaned from the journals of 19th century explorers to the Pacific Northwest.

Golf is a Funny Game - Dennis DaubleGOLF IS A FUNNY GAME

I found the material for this book on my older brother Daran’s website after he passed away following a 2-year battle with cancer. Daran was beloved by students and peers throughout the Pacific Northwest for both his patience and extensive knowledge of golf.  Each of his well-crafted essays are written with humor and insight. Topics cover everything from surviving 9 holes with your sweetie to bungie jumping to surviving the shanks.

The Barbless Hook - Dennis DaubleTHE BARBLESS HOOK

This humorous book is not so much about fishing, but about the fishing experience, including insight into the conscious and subconscious behavior of anglers. Most topics are about fishing in waters of the Pacific Northwest. I compiled the stories over a period of over 20 years, changed the names of friends to protect the guilty, and revealed more about myself than I ever imagined.

One Last Cast - Dennis DaubleONE MORE LAST CAST

This beautiful-illustrated book is a sequel to The Barbless Hook in terms of content and style, but covers a wider range of topics and fishing locales from throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Great Lakes and Gulf of Mexico.  The book title does not refer to a swan song for the author, rather to the addictive nature of fishing. Individual stories could best be described as quirky, entertaining, and poignant.
